With an interesting venue in southwest Florida, SPRI is planning its biennial technical meeting that will have some concurrent sessions with the Joint Division of the American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists being held at the same venue. Participation with your fellow sugar industry members in these informative meetings is essential to keep up with the ever-changing international sugar industry. The ASSCT meeting will be held June 25-27 while SPRI will be June 27-28, 2018 at the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Papers and posters are now being solicited from the international sweetener industry for the SPRI conference. In keeping with the conference theme, technical papers and/or posters will be accepted in all areas of raw sugar processing, raw sugar refining, beet sugar production, liquid sugar, analytical methods, supplies and equipment for process improvement, and all issues related to sugar quality, sugar usage and sustainability of the sugar industry. Papers of a purely commercial nature will be accepted but placed into a session recognized as such.

The US National Committee on Sugar Analysis will hold a meeting on June 29, 2018 immediately following the SPRI Conference at the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs. Florida. The US National Committee is the member company from the United States to ICUMSA, the International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis. At this meeting, matters important to the US sugar industry regarding analysis of sugar beets and sugarcane, sugar from beet and cane as well as juices, syrup and molasses will be discussed. It is vital that the US industry have representation to ICUMSA in order to have the optimal procedures in place for analysis of these products.
